How the world race changed my life:

The world race changed me radically. It’s not just a joy trip around the world, its an 11 month tour of the other side of the coin. I saw the poverty and desperation of mothers trying to feed their children with no work opportunities in a little village in Guatemala. I saw the hopelessness that the people of post communist countries still hold. I saw people blinded by false religions. I saw women and children that have been sold by their families to sex traffickers. I’ve seen a lot in this past year and it’s been eye opening and heartbreaking.
But I’ve also seen how the simple gospel is sometimes all we have to give and it’s enough. How sometimes just an act of kindness can light up a person’s day. How we can display the love of the Lord. How the joy of a child is universal. How persistence prevails. How people crave what the Lord has to offer even if they don’t know it.
So yeah, the word race changed my life. It’s taught me to not just be aware of the suffering others face but to offer what I do have. I know that my dependence on the Lord has grown. I know that walking away from the world race I’m a changed person and I’m better for it. It was hard but so so so worth it.
